International Callback
CTW's callback Service
takes advantage of the low international phone rates available in the
US. The US long distance telephone industry was deregulated in the early
1980's and prices have been dropping ever since. By contrast, most foreign
phone companies are still government owned or regulated monopolies,
and tend to charge outrageous prices. International callback is approved
by the US Federal Communications Commission.

How
Does Callback Work?
Callback is easy to use. You only need a touch tone phone.
The procedure is simple:
- Callers dial
a phone number that has been assigned by CTW, using their usual dialing
procedures. By dialing this predetermined "trigger" number,
the caller activates the CTW callback switch. The caller lets the
phone ring once and then hangs up. The call is never completed so
the caller is not charged for that portion of the call by the local
phone company.
- Within seconds
after hanging up, the system calls you back. Upon answering, the caller
is instructed to dial the destination number. Only if the party at
the destination number has answered the call does CTW bill for the
call.
- After finishing
the call, the caller simply hangs up or presses * * on the phone keypad
to place another call. The entire process adds about ten seconds to
normal dialing. Callback also works with cellular phones and fax machines.
You can even access US 800 numbers. There is no need to change your
existing long distance provider. Callback is fast, easy, and dramatically
lowers expenditures.
Additional
Callback Features
- Follow-Me
Customers can easily change their callback number so that it can ring
at a new number. For instance, if a customer moves to a different
office, residence or country, the customer can remotely program the
system to have the callback number ring at the new number. When customers
are issued a callback trigger number, they select a four digit PIN
code which authorizes the caller to utilize the Follow-Me function.
- PBX Operators
and Extensions
CTW's callback service provides the option to record a message
to a switchboard operator or dial an extension during the callback
process. In other words, if you are in a hotel room or in an office
without direct inward dial, our system will tell the operator how
to transfer the call or dial an extension.
- Calling Card
Access
All of our callback customers may also access calling card services.
For example, a callback customer, visiting the USA can access the
CTW network via a toll free 800 number. Charges will be billed to
your credit card along with calls made using the callback system.
- Anti-Blocking
Countermeasures
Where CTW encounters callback blocking from foreign PTT's,
we employ special countermeasures. These countermeasures include internet
callback triggers and DID cloaking.
Our callback service
has additional features such as voice mail and conference calling. To
learn about all of our other special features, please visit our Special
Features page. For callback rates, visit Rate
Plans.
Automatic
Callback Units
For business customers, CTW can install a small device called the Automatic
Callback Unit (ACU). This device entirely eliminates the need to dial
the trigger number, hang up and wait for a return call. When the unit
is installed, you dial an international number as you normally would.
The ACU will recognize the call as an international call and automatically
process the call over the CTW callback network. ACU's work well with
computer modem connections. The ACU allows you to use callback when
dialing into your email or internet provider. The callback procedure
is made transparent to your dialing program.
